The Community Enrichment Dinner brought people together to recognize those people and businesses in this area that are rising to make their mark.
And finally, we put the Community Enrichment spotlight on a downtown Lima business that has only been open a year but is making a big impact on the community. Here is this year's Rising Business of the Year Award winner. Vibe Coffee House and Café opened last year to educate the world through the global love of coffee. Owner Carlton McLellan traveled the world for his job as a senior diplomacy and international affairs professional, and he was drawn to coffee houses.
Charles Thomas has worn many hats during his lifetime in Lima and has always pushed for equity and inclusion. From his first day on the job in 1957 where he was the only minority in a pool of 200 employees, to his time behind the microphone at a local radio station. Thomas spent many years working with children at juvenile court, then becoming a juvenile probation officer and also working for the Lima City Schools. Working with the youth inspired him to continue his journey toward inclusion.
Bradley says that Rhodes State College is starting with themselves first to increase inclusion as they are partnering with the Ohio and the National Diversity Councils. This will give them a broader opportunity for professional development to enhance the college and their students.

The docents at the Allen County Museum are volunteers who help out in a variety of ways, including leading school and adult tours, guiding visitors around the museum and volunteering for special events. This week is a chance for people interested in the docent program to learn more about what they do, and to give veteran docents the opportunity to hear more about different subjects.
Lima native and 6th Ward Lima City Councilman Derry Glenn has been giving back to the community all of his life. He says he got that from his parents. He has started programs like rent a kid, neighbors helping neighbors, air conditioners for seniors, John Lewis Day, and others. He doesn't want to see anyone left behind and will do what it takes to help others.
Around 12 years ago, Thomas "TJ" Smith lost his job and was fighting for custody of his child. He reached out everywhere to figure out what to do, but when he couldn't find the answers he needed, Smith created "Daddys at Work". Smith says "Daddys at Work" is trying to help breach the barrier that single parents are facing.
The Community Enrichment Dinner is set to continue that mission with this year's theme of "Love Heals All". Chairman Jerome O'Neal says each year they want to give people a topic they can really focus on and to walk out with a different perspective.
Bob Latta earlier this month introduced the National Opportunity to Restore Uranium Supply Services In America Act of 2022. According to Latta's office, the bill would establish a national strategic uranium reserve, as well as a program to ensure the production, conversion, and enrichment of domestic uranium.
