Lima City Councilman Derry Glenn provided people with warm Thanksgiving meals for the 17th year. Lima Towers residents and others who attended were served a free Thanksgiving dinner. They also held a raffle to give people the chance to win prizes. Glenn says the smiles he sees is what makes this event so good, and everyone involved is always eager for this time of year to come again.

Firefighters were called out to 225 South Scott Street just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Smoke was coming from the attic area and fire was seen on the side of the house, which was vacant. Crews were on scene for a couple of hours. After investigating, they determined the fire was intentionally set. The cost of the damage is around $12,000.

A shooting Tuesday evening in Lima seriously injures a woman, and the suspect is still on the run. The Lima Police Department say, just after 6:30 PM Tuesday evening, officers responded to 459 McPheron Avenue for a shooting. They found 47 year-old Naomi Brenneman of Lima suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Today was a great day for area bookworms as the 2022 AAUW Book Fair kicked off in Lima! At 4 PM Tuesday Afternoon, volunteers officially opened the doors to the public, and patrons were off to the races to find their next perfect read by the fireplace for the upcoming fall season.

The event will start off Monday morning with the 5-K run, then at night the Lima Area Concert Band will be playing a patriotic tribute from the Rotary Pavilion and of course, the fireworks will end the day. There will not be any food or beverage trucks in the park, so the committee says you can bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a cooler to enjoy the evening. Plus there is parking off-site and there will be rides to Faurot Park.

The Star Spangled Spectacular committee announcing that they are bringing back the Freedom 5K Run and Walk, and an evening concert followed by one of the best fireworks displays in the state. The 5K Run will begin at 9 am and the Lima Area Concert band will take the stage at 8 pm with the fireworks to begin at 10 pm. Organizers say it’s good to be able to provide some 4th of July activities.
