With kids out of school for the summer, two Lima-area organizations are working to ensure no child goes hungry during the break.

"Spread the Love" with Faith Christian Church, along with help from Lima Sixth Ward Councilman Derry Glenn, kicked off their inaugural deliveries of free peanut butter and jelly sandwich meals.

"Spread the Love" is a mission project by the Faith Christian Church to help with food insecurity by handing out sack meal Fridays to Lima area kids.
It's "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" as a local church is making an effort to provide after-school snacks to area children. They are calling it "Spread the Love." Faith Christian Church is launching an after-school PB&J meal project in food-insecure areas of Lima. They will be providing children with a brown bag containing a drink, applesauce, a treat, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Faith Christian Church out of Shawnee is donating several pairs of shoes and other footwear to the hospital after a drive was held at the church. The idea came from one parishioner who is a retired hospital worker, and through the help of her congregation, the Sole Mission Project was able to collect shoes to donate to Lima's hospitals.
Faith Christian Church donated over 60 pairs of shoes, sandals, and flip-flops to Mercy Health St. Rita's as part of their “Sole Mission”. The project was started by Penny Keller-Clark, who used to work at the medical center. St. Rita's can now give out shoes to people who may have not come into the hospital with any because of an accident or medical emergency.
