Otterbein residents in Cridersville came together Tuesday afternoon for their annual Christmas gala. The residents gathered around decorated tables for a homemade gourmet dinner. During dinner, there was also entertainment including the Jazz Coasters traveling out to Cridersville to perform various Christmas-themed tunes for residents. Many residents look forward to this event each year as it brings them all together to enjoy the Christmas season.

MHCO's Gala is a fundraising event to benefit the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Benevolent Care Fund, which provides support to care for older adults who have outlived their resources. With the theme of “Boots and Bandanas,” the event brought together more than 130 guests for a memorable evening of fun and philanthropy. Attendees enjoyed a live auction, a silent auction, raffle prizes, and a special appeal from our Chief Operating Officer, Daren Lee, who introduced our Resident Wish List, which includes items that will enrich the lives of our residents in meaningful ways.

The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce hosted their 21st Annual Awards Gala Tuesday evening announcing this year's award recipients. On Tuesday night, six individuals, businesses, and organizations were honored.
The Lima News hosted their first annual Best of the Region Red Carpet Awards Gala. They have had public voting for Best of the Region for over twenty years, but this year they decided to invite nominees to an in-person event with dinner and cocktails. Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen, Cassandra Kurek, was the announcer of the award winners.
Mercy Health St. Rita's showcasing some of their work at their annual Red Door Gala on Thursday evening. This year, the focus was on how their neuroscience center is benefitting the community.
Edward Eghan is the founder executive director of the Oheneba Soccer Academy and adds, “So this fundraiser will allow us to provide over 210 scholarships for kids in this city. Especially the underserved community. So, the purpose of this gala is to raise funds for all our yearly activities.”
They were 1 of 50 recipients of the 2022 Smart 50 Awards given to municipalities that are working to solve problems with technology becoming Smart Cities. Lima’s project is “Smart Train Avoidance” where they are collaborating with a company that will make information about the location of train traffic in the city seen with technology in the hopes of making travel a little easier for motorists in the city.
