The City of Lima is being recognized globally for its effort to become “train smart”.
They were 1 of 50 recipients of the 2022 Smart 50 Awards given to municipalities that are working to solve problems with technology becoming Smart Cities. Lima’s project is “Smart Train Avoidance” where they are collaborating with a company that will make information about the location of train traffic in the city seen with technology in the hopes of making travel a little easier for motorists in the city.
Lima City Engineer Kirk Niemeyer explains, “These public-private partnerships can work for the better of the community. It’s nice to be recognized that we’ve got an idea and we’re developing it and hopefully will bring it to the market someday and make life easier for everyone from getting to point a to point b.”
City representatives will attend a gala in Columbus in April to accept the award.
