Lawyers for 57-year-old Charles Castle have requested that he be evaluated to determine if he is competent to stand trial. In the court documents, his lawyer writes that Castle may have had a mental illness and didn't understand the wrongfulness of his acts at the time of the offense.
The case against a Hardin County man, who is facing charges for allegedly kidnapping a 7-year-old girl, will move to common pleas court. 57-year-old Charles Castle waived his right to a preliminary hearing, now his case has been bound over to Hardin County Common Pleas Court. Castle was charged with a first-degree charge of kidnapping and if found guilty, he faces three to 11 years in prison.
Gross has also must pay $5,400 in restitution to the family of Rodney Slechter. Slechter was stabbed on February 1st in Gross's home in Ada following a disagreement. Gross was also injured during the incident. Gross was arrested in April after being indicted by the Hardin County Grand Jury.
