A Hardin County man is trying to go for an insanity plea for kidnapping a 7-year-old girl in November of 2021.
Lawyers for 57-year-old Charles Castle have requested that he be evaluated to determine if he is competent to stand trial. In the court documents, his lawyer writes that Castle may have had a mental illness and didn't understand the wrongfulness of his acts at the time of the offense.
He was indicted by a Hardin County Grand Jury on 15 charges including attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, and tampering with evidence. The state says on or around November 10th, Castle took a 7-year-old from her home in Kenton and she was found alive on the 12th in a home outside the city. He is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
