So hoping that we can get the word out so that anyone in the community that is a part of those and would love to celebrate and share all their heritage would come and join us at the Multicultural Expo,” said Julie Klingler, director of programs and partnerships for the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce.

BLUFFTON, OH (WLIO) - On Saturday, the Swiss Community Historical Society taught the public about an art form that dates back to the 16th century.
The new Amphitheatre downtown provided the perfect venue to restart the Multicultural Expo for the first time in about ten years. All of the exhibitors are residents of the county, representing countries like Panama, India, and Japan.
Heritage Elementary was among schools across the district providing engaging activities to draw in families ranging from cornhole, bottle tosses, food, and a Scholastic book fair which acts as a fundraiser for the school. The goal is to make the experience much more than a sit-down meeting and a time for teachers and families to connect.
An open house was held at the Lincoln Park railroad exhibit and small town classic depot. It was in conjunction with a diesel-powered train excursion, from Springfield Ohio, operated by the Ohio rail experience. Around 250 visitors got to climb on and explore the last Lima locomotive works steam nickel plate road engine that retired in 1958. Plus they were shuttled to the Allen county museum to check out the exhibits there.
It was all abord for the only summer model railroad show in the area. 2022 Van Wert Railroad Heritage show took over four buildings at the fairgrounds over the July23rd weekend. The show brings in people from all over Ohio and the Midwest. Youngsters from Heritage Elementary cleaned up the area around the William Fowler Overpass near their school. The students get a better understanding of what it means to be a good neighbor. It’s all part of their “Spartan Gives” initiative to get students more involved in the community.
Librarians at the OSU Lima Campus have joined the efforts of “SUCHO”, “Saving Ukrainian Culture Heritage Online”. By going to the website, you can find spreadsheets that have the names of artwork, music, books, and other cultural items that are online and ‘SUCHO” is working to get those safely archived while the country is under attack.
