LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima City Schools are putting some fun into parent-teacher conferences.

Heritage Elementary was among schools across the district providing engaging activities to draw in families, ranging from cornhole, bottle tosses, food, and a Scholastic book fair which acts as a fundraiser for the school. The goal is to make the experience much more than a sit-down meeting and a time for teachers and families to connect.

"Being able to meet parents that maybe we haven't met before and just that opportunity to be able to talk to them on a different level and it's really about building those relationships with parents and letting them see that we're glad to get them in the building," said Stacy Barker, Heritage Elementary Principal.

Heritage Elementary held a classroom door decorating contest just for Halloween and students got to vote on which one they liked best. The school says students got a kick out of it and were eager to show their parents.
