Some Lima City School students are working to better their neighborhood.
Youngsters from Heritage Elementary cleaned up the area around the William Fowler Overpass near their school. The students get a better understanding of what it means to be a good neighbor. It’s all part of their “Spartan Gives” initiative to get students more involved in the community.
Laynee Kantner is a 4th grader at Heritage and says, “I cleaned up trash over there with other students and I learned not to litter, and I liked it.”
4th grader Crew Thompson adds, “To not litter and just pick up your trash and find a nearby trash can and throw it away.”
The students picked up three garbage bags of trash and got treated to ice cream sandwiches for their efforts.
