Residents had the chance on Tuesday night to give their feedback to the City of Lima ahead of a reconstruction project. The feedback is in relation to the Catalpa and Holmes Reconstruction Project within the Jefferson Manor Subdivision. The nearly $2 million project would reconstruct existing roadway on Catalpa Avenue between Sugar Street and Simons Avenue and on Holmes Avenue between Sugar Street and Catalpa Avenue. The project would also construct new curbs and gutters, storm sewers, water lines, sidewalks, and signage with a goal to improve infrastructure and drainage.
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima wants to know what you think about a proposal to redo half a mile of Cable Road.
At this meeting, a concept design will be introduced that shows the features that can possibly be included in the aquatics center that will be located near Stadium Park. There is an activity pool, a multi-use pool that will have a retractable enclosure for year-round use. There is also a pool house and concession restroom area in the design. They are looking for more public input before the design is locked in.
Three of those projects will take place in Allen County. The first taking place in Lima on Cable Road between Latham Avenue and College Park. The $4.5 million dollar project will be used for signal upgrades, as well as the construction of medians and sidewalks. The next project is expected to install a roundabout at SR 117 and State Route 501 in Shawnee Township. The location had a project done in 2016, but improvements still need to be made.
The construction of a new roundabout in Lima’s Town Square is ahead of schedule. Crews are completing the portion of the roundabout on the north side of the intersection. It can be as early as next week that construction will begin work in the center of the square. This will cause some additional road closures.
Assistant Lima City Engineer Ian Kohli explains, “We are going to maintain access to all local businesses and to most of the parking throughout the project. With this closure the parking for the civic center and the Borra Center will be maintained. You’ll just need to access it from the south, from Spring Street.
