The Lima Sister Cities Association is inviting the public to attend its annual Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday at the Japanese Garden in downtown Lima.
The Lima Sister Cities Association is raffling off two vintage quilts made by a renowned Japanese quilter. The quilts, donated to the organization, will help raise funds for projects such as the Youth Ambassador trip and the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival.

The Japanese Garden was a gift from Lima's Sister City Harima-Cho Japan full of weeping cherry trees. You can find the garden across the river from the Lima YMCA. Matthew Neely is Lima Sister City President and says, “We’re having a community clean up at our sister city garden to just pull weeds and do yearly maintenance it’s all done on a volunteer basis to allow the beauty to be shown to everybody and it gives you a sense of ownership working on it.”

The Sister Cities Association will be holding their first-ever walk-a-thon this Saturday, October 23rd at the Japanese Garden at the corner of Elizabeth and Eureka Streets from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will raise money for the upkeep of the garden. The Japanese garden is the home of weeping cherry trees which were donated to the city by the middle school students from Harima-cho Japan, as well as other landscaping. Sister cities is looking for public help to keep the space thriving.
