They are asking for volunteers to help spruce up the Japanese Garden at 202 West Eureka Street in preparation for the Cherry Blossom Picnic. If you can help, just show up this Saturday from 10 am to noon with your trowels, pruners, shovels, weed poppers, gloves, and garbage bags. The Cherry Trees were a gift from Lima’s Sister City Harima-cho, Japan school children in 2002.

Matthew Neely is Lima Sister City President and says, “We’re having a community clean up day at our sister city garden to just pull weeds and do yearly maintenance, it’s all done on a volunteer basis to allow the beauty to be shown to everybody and it gives you a sense of ownership working on it.”

The Cherry Blossom Picnic is planned for Saturday, April 16th from 11 am to 3 pm at the Japanese Garden. You can find out more by going to their new website at https://limasistercities.com/.
