Members of the Lima Noon Sertoma Club and the Lima Kiwanis Club heard from representatives from the Wilson football factory in Ada.

The Lima Noon Sertoma Club is celebrating Speech and Hearing Month by highlighting its decades-long effort to help children improve communication skills and announcing its upcoming summer program.
The Lima Fire Department promoted Kendall Harrod to lieutenant and Lee Parker to captain during a mayor’s conference. Both firefighters were recognized for their experience, certifications and contributions to the department.
Members toured the school’s renovated space and learned more about the Grand and Main Project — a multimillion-dollar plan aimed at revitalizing Lima’s north end.
Lima firefighter and paramedic Jacob Shivley was honored by the Lima Noon Sertoma Club with the John Brookman Firefighter of the Year Award for his dedication to serving and protecting the community.
Many Allen County Fairgoers placed bets on horses Monday evening as the harness races got underway at the grandstands. Throughout Monday evening, horses and their owners lined up at the starting line for either a one-mile pace or trot on the grandstands’ dirt track.
“All of our modern yards, we spray Roundup and other weed killers, and what we're doing is taking away that food source from the bees,” Shelby said. “That's why people get in their yard. They say we don't have any bees, but we're not promoting the bees through killing our weeds or not planting pollinator-friendly plants.”
The Lima Noon Sertoma Club has recognized a woman who has dedicated more than 40 years to preserving Allen County history.
The Lima Noon Sertoma Club honors Lima's bravery with the Firefighter of the Year Award. This year they recognized Kendall Harrod for the work he has done over the past 10 years with the Lima Fire Department. His fellow firefighters call him a role model for their new recruits, and this past summer, Harrod helped save the life of an infant while responding to a call.
