The Mercer County Grand Jury indicted 6 people on charges involving prostitutions and solicitation.  5 of the 6 have been arrested.  

A 40-year-old Shane Chilcoat of Celina pleaded guilty in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to sexual battery and pandering obscenity involving a minor charges. Chilcoat was arrested in September, after he was indicted on 19 charges including multiple counts each of rape, sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition.

   Celina detectives investigated allegations from three separate underage victims. 

Chilcoat was also labeled a Tier III Sex Offender and must register his address with the sheriff's office where he is living for the rest of his life. 

A Celina man was sentenced to at least 13 years in prison for multiple child pornography charges.  46-year-old Brian Winner was facing  47 charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor, pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor, and possessing criminal tools.   But after taking a plea deal, 29 of the charges were dropped.  The judge sentenced him to a minimum of 13 years in prison to a maximum of 15 years.  Winner was found guilty of similar charges back in 2017 and was sentenced to nearly two and a half years in prison back then.  He is now labeled a Tier III sex offender and will have to register with the sheriff's office where he is living for the rest of his life.

73-year-old Toney Kidwell was found guilty on four counts of sexual battery, and one count of attempted sexual battery. A Mercer County Grand Jury indicted him on a total of 33 counts including rape, sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition. The other charges were dropped as part of the plea. The indictment says the offenses happened between October 2019 and December 2020. The victim was nine years old when the alleged offenses started. Kidwell will be sentenced next month and could face up to twenty years in prison.

Sarah Buzzard had a pretrial hearing Thursday afternoon with her newly appointed attorneys to represent her in a death penalty case. The attorneys discussed making sure everyone had the same evidence moving forward in the case. Buzzard is facing 18 charges, including murder, felonious assault, kidnapping, gross abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

73-year-old Toney Kidwell was indicted by a Mercer County Grand Jury on 33 counts including rape, sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition. The indictment says the offenses occurred between October 2019 and December 2020. The young victim was nine years old when offenses started. Kidwell is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Mercer County Grand Jury has indicted Teddy Hale, 28 on one charged of Vehicular Homicide.   He is being held in jail on a $500,000 bond.    On September 27th, the Celina Police Department says Hale failed to stop for a car and motorcycle that were stopped ahead of him.  Hale hit the motorcycle and the driver of the motorcycle was ejected.  She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.Hale was also charged with misdemeanor counts of Driving with a Suspended License and Violating Speed Limits.

A Celina man charged with attacking his wife a year ago has been sentenced to around 8 and 1/2 years in prison. Earlier this week, Mitch Mullins pleaded guilty in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to one count of felonious assault, one count of escape and two misdemeanor counts of menacing. The other counts of domestic violence, abduction and intimidation of a witness have been dropped.

A former Mercer County teacher now faces time in prison after being found guilty of having sex with a minor. Heather Henry took a plea deal earlier this year to plead no contest to three counts of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor and one count of Failure to Comply with Underage Alcohol Laws. According to the indictment, the charges were from three separate incidents over Christmas break of 2018.
