“We really chose the Lima Citizens Police Academy to really strengthen the relationship between our local law enforcement and our community,” said Samuel White Jr., project team lead for the class. “I believe there's a lot of negative perception around our police department, and so we really want to build that trust, that transparency with our police department with this academy.”

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The City of Lima is making efforts to connect with neighborhoods across the community as it plans this year’s National Night Out.
Associates, city officials and members of the public gathered to commemorate 20 years since the store first opened its doors in 2005. As one of the largest employers in Wapakoneta, Walmart has consistently found ways to give back to the community that supports the store.
Despite some heavy rain, the Allen County Sheriff's Office did not let Mother Nature ruin their fun at the Allen County Fairgrounds for their annual National Night Out. In addition to having dinner and talking with deputies, the SWAT team and the bomb squad, a big part of the celebration is the 5K run where all money and proceeds directly benefit the Allen County D.A.R.E. Program. On Tuesday evening, we talked with Allen County Sheriff, Matt Treglia, about why Tuesday night was so important.
Residents of Lima came out to Faurot Park Tuesday afternoon to celebrate National Night Out with Lima's first responders! Residents had the chance to get to know the men and women who serve the Lima Police, Fire, and EMS Departments along with the park rangers and even the dive team. LPD officers were grilling hot dogs on the Faurot Park stage along with live music, bouncy houses for the kids, and even some fishing and live-action diving demonstrations from the dive team. Through all the fun, a big mission is to connect with our first responders without being in an emergency situation.
