LIMA, OH (WLIO) -Â Residents of Lima came out to Faurot Park Tuesday afternoon to celebrate National Night Out with Lima's first responders!
Through all the fun, a big mission is to connect with our first responders without being in an emergency situation.
Residents had the chance to get to know the men and women who serve the Lima Police, Fire, and EMS Departments, along with the park rangers and even the dive team. LPD officers were grilling hot dogs on the Faurot Park stage along with live music, bouncy houses for the kids, and even some fishing and live-action diving demonstrations from the dive team. Through all the fun, a big mission is to connect with our first responders without being in an emergency situation.
There were also community organizations at Faurot Park that educated the community about their services.
"This is the perfect event for it. We have our LFD, our firefighters, out in uniform, but in case they need a call, they got to be ready to go. But we have a lot of police officers are here, outside of their hours coming and work, and they're not in their normal uniform. They're wearing polo and jeans, so they're blending in, which is everybody else today, and it's a great way to sit there and talk to the community," says Sydni Winkler, Neighborhood Specialist, City of Lima.
