LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center closed out their Groupie Movie Series with a showing of a Lima-made film.
This weekend's summit will feature mentors in vocal performance, spoken word, and culinary arts. Next weekend will host a stage performance mentor and a chance for students to showcase their creative talents. The Director of Youth for Change and Founder of their parent organization Heartland Image Foundation, Nick Kellis, says these summits show young creators about leadership and professionalism in the arts. Kellis encourages anyone in grades 6 through 12 to join.
Every aspiring young artist needs a mentor to shape their skills, and that’s exactly what Youth for Change is offering. The heartland image foundation set up their equipment at Heir Force Community School and laid down some basic knowledge about the multimedia business.
A nationally known podcast host is highlighting Lima’s own movie “A Walk with Grace” this weekend. Local producer Nick Kellis will be on “Faith on the Field” podcast hosted by radio and television personality Rob Maaddi. A friend of Kellis, he watched “A Walk with Grace” with his family and was impressed with the faith-based storyline of the movie. So much that he is featuring it on his show.
A locally filmed and produced movie is making a name for itself and could be on its way to becoming America’s Easter movie. “A Walk with Grace” was released in November but is centered around Easter, faith, and community. It’s currently available on Amazon and 10 other online formats. So far it’s been downloaded nearly 10,000 times but those numbers need to be higher. That’s where the Lima community and surrounding area come into play. The film's producer is asking people to download and watch the movie, saying you may be surprised to see their point of view of what living in Lima and Midwest Ohio can mean.
The movie A Walk With Grace" had its official premiere, and the film will soon be available for home video and streaming. The movie was filmed in parts of Allen and Logan counties and showcases much of what Lima has to offer.
On Wednesday dozens of people gathered at the Wapak Theater for the premiere of “A Walk with Grace”. The night began with an introduction from Austin St. John, one of the main actors from the movie and former actor on "Power Rangers". They also heard from the director, Nick Kellis. People even got the chance to get autographs signed by Austin St. John. This movie has been five years in the making. Kellis and his crew began filming two and a half years ago in the Lima-area. The film showcases some of the great things this area has to offer.
