There is no question that it's sweltering outside. But that's not stopping some activities from still going on. The City of Lima's Summer Playground Program is doing all it can to beat the heat and still have fun. The kids hit the playground early in the day. You can tell they are taking it easy, finding some shade, and exerting a little bit of energy here and there. They enjoy the air conditioning at Liberty Arts Magnet School as they get lunch as part of the Lima City Schools free summer lunch program. Then it's back to Faurot Park and a cool treat. The kids also know to take a break and rehydrate.

May 21, 2024, Press Release from the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities: On Friday, May 24, at 1:30 P.M., the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold the third annual Butterfly Memorial at the Marimor Legacy Park & Playground at 2550 Ada Rd. This event will honor those who received services through the Board, community members and loved ones that have passed. Each butterfly is inscribed with a name or memory of a loved one. A special tribute will be made for those individuals that were served by the Board. At the end, a live butterfly release will be held. This year's event will include 29 new butterflies. After three years, 155 people will have been remembered on a butterfly in the garden.

The Board of Park Commissioners with the Heritage Trails Park District were busy Tuesday Evening inside the Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce with budgetary and future event planning. Currently, hundreds of people are involved in the district's 2023 Cabin Fever Hike Series, which is part of the Grand Lake Health System Road to Fitness Program, but the district is already looking further ahead.
