LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Those with a definite green thumb are helping others spruce up their garden with some new plants.
The Allen County Master Gardener Volunteers held their annual Children's Garden Plant Sale. The plants came from the members’ own gardens and from donations to the club. There were a variety of plants available to help people add some green and other colors to their flower beds or gardens. The money raised from the plant sale helps the master gardeners add new plants to the Children's Garden that people young and old enjoy throughout the growing season.
“We designed the garden initially to have many gardens of many different types. So we have a mini woodland, a mini farm ground, and many vegetable beds because we want to expose children of all ages to every type of possibility and spark their interest in whatever it might be,” says Gretchen Staley, Allen County Master Gardener Volunteer.
Besides sharing their knowledge with others during the sale, on June 4th, the Allen County Master Gardeners will be starting their brown bag lunch and learn series every Tuesday at noon at the Children’s Garden through August.
