Amphitheater Program
On Sat., June 22, from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will host EZ & COMPANY at the OTTAWA METRO PARK AMPHITHEATER (2632 Ada Rd., Lima, OH).
This Cover Band is sure to help us celebrate the first official weekend of Summer with their music from the 60’s – 80’s! Join us!
Jogging with Johnny
On Mon., June 24, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer JOGGING WITH JOHNNY at HERITAGE PARK - VETERANS SHELTER (2092 Reed Rd., Lima, OH).
Turn up the heat on your fitness routine and enjoy some fun in the sun with a Johnny Appleseed accoutabili-buddy! Join a Naturalist for a warm-up walk and a few laps around the Heritage Park. All ages and abilities are welcome in their fitness journey, whether you consider yourself a seed, a sapling, or cider! Choose a pace that is comfortable for you. Birding in the Park: Haver Ridge
On Tues., June 25, at 8:00 a.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer BIRDING IN THE PARK: HAVER RIDGE (8335 Bellefontaine Rd., Harrod, OH).
Many birds will only nest in specific habitats, often becoming wonderful indicators of the health of the ecosystem where they are living. Come join a naturalist to canvas a portion of the park for breeding birds and see who calls the Park “home”! We’ll identify some by sight, but many by sound. Imaginature Playgroup
On Tues., June 25, at 10:00 a.m. OR 1:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer IMAGINATURE PLAYGROUP at HERMON WOODLANDS – WEST SHELTER (485 N. Wapak Rd., Lima, OH).
Come play with us at the Hermon Woodlands Imaginature Playscape! Join a naturalist at the West Shelter for a mini program, then spend the rest of the time playing and exploring in the Playscape and creek. Feel free to pack a picnic lunch and extra shoes and/or clothes for the ride home! Register by June 24, online at www.jampd.com or by calling the office at 419-221-1232.
Beginning Archery Program
On Wed., June 26, from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. OR 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer a BEGINNING ARCHERY PROGRAM at the EVANS ARCHERY RANGE (1376 N. St. Mary’s Rd., Spencerville, OH).
Participants age 9 through adult can sign up for ones session from 6-7 p.m. or from 7-8 p.m. Certified archery staff will be on hand to assist beginning archers on the fundamentals of archery. Mathews Genesis bows and all other supplies will be provided by the park district. Participants in the program must use bows provided. Wear closed toed shoes, remove dangling earrings, and tie back long hair. Registration required by June 24. Limited to 20 participants per 1 hour time block. Feeding Day
On Thurs., June 27, at 4:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will host FEEDING DAY at the MCELROY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUATION CENTER (2355 Ada Rd., Lima, OH).
The Park District maintains several education animals in the McElroy Environmental Education Center, using them throughout the year for nature presentations and programs. Join the Critter Care volunteers to help (or watch) them clean and feed all our animals at 4 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month!
