One of Rudolph’s first priorities as superintendent was building strong relationships within the community. To help achieve that goal, he launched “Afternoons with Andre,” an initiative designed to connect directly with parents and community members. He has also made it a point to attend and support many district events and activities.

he State of Ohio plans to appeal a Franklin County judge’s ruling that declared the state’s school voucher program partially unconstitutional. The ruling stems from the “Vouchers Hurt Ohio” lawsuit, which includes a coalition of public school districts claiming the use of state money for the EdChoice program is illegal and unconstitutional. Lima City Schools is named as a plaintiff in the lawsuit.

"So it's incredibly important. It's a moral document. It decides what the state cares about, and we think they should care about the kids. We think they should focus on public schools and funding for education and libraries. And the fight right now is over whether or not those things should be the priority," said Coyle.

“Our public schools are secular, and we have to protect that — not just for anyone else of different faiths, or no faith, or whatever it may be, but to protect people of faith, too,” Gaines said. “This is their choice, outside of a government institution, to raise their children in a particular faith. But when other children are exposed to it during the school day, when it’s disrupting instruction and, by extension, using taxpayer funds — that’s when it becomes a problem.”

Kight is a member of Lima Senior’s Masterworks and Scarlet & Gray choirs. He is also in the Spartan Marching Pride.
