It's officially Girl Scout cookie time! The iconic cookie sale began as a grassroots effort in 1917 with scouts baking their own cookies. The first commercially baked product came in 1934. The scouts have come a long way in selling cookies and today even sell on online. The sales raise money for the troops' activities and most of all teach the girls skills they will use throughout their lives by starting with small tasks.

This year's keynote speech will be given by U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Graham spoke at the Allen County Republican's last rally in 2019. US Congressman Jim Jordan will also be speaking at the event to show his support for US Senate candidate J.D. Vance. Due to the pandemic, the Allen County Republican Party has not held this rally in a couple of years, and Party Chairman Keith Cheney is thankful to have the BBQ Rally back.

The Allen County Democratic Party has set up their headquarters to be ready for the November General Election which is a little more than a month away. The location is 206 E. Market Street, across from Allen County Public Health. They are happy to have the downtown Lima location leading up to the November 8th election.  The party will be holding some get out the vote rallies at the headquarters and they will be doing some canvasing from the location too.  They believe this election is important to Democratic issues.

The winners of the "Impact Grants" provided by the City of Lima's Department of Housing and Neighborhoods are gearing up to complete the projects they presented for funding. The Faurot West Neighborhood Association will be handing out more than 100 grab sticks to help clean up the neighborhood and City Life at Rally Point will be adding a new activity for the kids they serve. The Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Neighborhood Association also receiving an impact grant for an event they are planning in October.
