In the wake of the deadly EF-3 tornado, an overwhelming amount of support continues to pour into the Indian Lake region. On Monday afternoon, we traveled to The Lighthouse at Indian Lake in Russells Point where people from near and far have donated items ranging from food and water to clothes, blankets, hygiene products, baby formula and diapers. A kitchen staff was also present to help serve tornado survivors and area first responders with hot meals serving 750 meals just on Monday. Organizers at The Lighthouse have a 40-foot container outside for overflow storage of donated items, and they say that a second container might be needed as the generosity continues to pour in.

Lima Police Department’s Crime prevention specialist Liz Casey talked to the group about her mission to partner with residents, businesses, and organizations to improve the quality of life and reduce the fear of crime. She also produces a monthly newsletter that spotlights local businesses and organizations talking about different safety topics, like this month focusing on tips for kids as they transition from school to summer.

An active shooter response training session was held by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office. Held at a home behind the sheriff's office, the training helped deputies and officers learn how to effectively respond to an active shooter situation. A classroom session was held prior to participants getting hands-on training by going through a controlled environment, where they had to clear rooms, communicate with one another, locate hostages, and arrest the shooter.

Wednesday afternoon, visiting Judge James Brogan ruled in favor of Hardesty saying the complainants didn't prove she was not a resident according to the Lima City Charter. The judge’s ruling could be appealed to a higher court if the complainants wish to do so. Before the primary election, Alice Donahue and Bart Mills filed a civil lawsuit against Hardesty and the Allen County Board of Elections saying the board abused their power when they voted to uphold her residency, in turn allowing her to run for mayor.

Lima police state that officers responded to a noise complaint at Taco Bell located on Allentown Road. In a video obtained by Your Hometown Stations, it shows that multiple officers were called to the scene. Later in the video, a man is seen falling to the ground after an electrical sound can be heard. The person recording the video states that an officer tased the individual.
