Friday March 7, 2025
0236 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on State Route 81 in the Village of Elgin for an open door.
0620 hrs. – Deputies along with Delphos and Middle Point Fire and EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on U.S. Route 30 in Washington Township. Unit One, a 2006 Ford 500 driven by Terry Chambers of Lima was driving eastbound on US 30 when he stated that his vehicle's engine stopped, stating that his car went from 70 miles an hour and dropped down to 50 miles an hour.  The sudden drop in speed due to the vehicle malfunction caused Unit Tow, a 2015 Ram 3500 driven by Korbin Schalois of Van Wert, to strike the rear end of Unit One. Delphos EMS transported one Van Wert Health, while the passenger of Unit Two was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. Unit One a citation for no operator's license.
0710 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Tully Harrison Road in Harrison Township for a report of a suspicious person.
0747 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of State Route 697 n Washington Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Unit One a 2007 Ford 500 driven by Timothy Werts of Washington Township was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of St Rt 697. Unit Two a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Karlyn Mawhorr Washington Township had stopped at the stop sign on Spencerville Delphos Rd. Unit Two proceeded into the intersection and was making a left turn onto St Rt 697. Unit One then proceeded into the intersection striking Unit Two. Unit One sustained paint transfer and scuffs to the rear. Unit Two had no visible damage. No injuries were reported.Â
1107 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on Tully Harrison Road in Harrison Township for a report of two loose dogs.
1111 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Moiser Road in Jackson Township for a report of identity fraud.
1157 hrs. – Dispatched Middle Point EMS to a residence on State Road in York Township for a subject who was ill.
1300 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Middle Point Road in Ridge Township to standby as a peace officer.
1550 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Ohio Street in the Village of Convoy for a complaint of a violation of protection order.
1626 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on U.S. Route 127 in Pleasant Township to assist with a juvenile being unruly.
1659 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of South Bredeick in Washington Township for a report of a loose dog.
1717 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Lorber Street in the Village of Convoy on a complaint of harassment.
2014 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. Route 30 in Washington Township on a report of reckless driving.
2358 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of McConahay Road in Pleasant Township for a report of suspicious activity and reckless driving.

0545 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of South Walnut Street in the City of Van Wert to assist the Van Wert Police.
0632 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Liberty Union Road in Pleasant Township for a report of littering.
1156 hrs. – Dispatched Middle Point EMS to a residence on Galvin Road in Hoaglin Township for a subject with foot pain.
1648 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on West Main Street in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.
1653 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Lorber Street in the Village of Convoy to standby as a peace officer.
1757 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on State Route 709 in Liberty Township to check the report of an open door.
2205 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Emerson Road in Pleasant Township to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.
2215 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of State Route 116 in Jennings Township for a report of a suspicious drone.
2234 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. Route 30 in Ridge Township for an automated message of a possible crash, nothing was located.
2357 hrs. – Dispatched Convoy EMS to a residence on Mentzer Road in Tully Township for a subject who was unconscious.

0030 hrs. – Deputies assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol at a location on East Sycamore Street in the City of Van Wert.
1012 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Shannon Street in the City of Van Wert for a report of a loose dog.
1606 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on West Maple Avenue in the City of Van Wert to assist the Van Wert Police.
1730 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of State Route 81 in York Township to check the welfare of a subject sitting along the roadway.
1942 hrs. – Dispatched Convoy EMS to a residence on South Cherry Street in the Village of Convoy for a subject not responding appropriately.
2011 hrs. – Dispatched Middle Point EMS to a residence on West Sycamore Street in the Village of Middle Point for a subject having a diabetic emergency.
2016 hrs. – Dispatched Convoy EMS to a residence on Sponseller Street in the Village of Convoy for a subject who had fallen.
2045 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. Route 30 in Pleasant Township for a complaint of reckless driving.
2143 hrs. – Deputies served a warrant issued by Defiance County Common Pleas Court Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a Fifth Degree Felony. Betty Brenham age 33 of Darke County is being held at the Van Wert County Correctional Facility pending extradition.
2215 hrs. – Dispatched Middle Point EMS to a residence on Lincoln Highway in Washington Township for a subject with stroke symptoms.
