Aaron McLaurine, founder and coach with the program, emphasized the long-term goals of their mission.

“Trying to reach the younger generation at an age to where it’s impacting them a lot quicker, a lot faster," McLaurine said. "So once they get to a certain age, they know how to handle themselves, they know how to give back, and they know how to be productive young men and women."

"Every month we put out 1,500 of these senior boxes throughout our service area, and we brought enough today in the time that we have available with Rotarians to pack at least 300 of those. So each day, we're consistently packing those boxes just to make sure that seniors have food on their tables," said Tommie Harner, CEO of the West Ohio Food Bank.

Six students presented their projects at the Rotary Club this week, selecting topics meaningful to them and analyzing them through the lens of the Four-Way Test. The test asks: "Is it the truth?" "Is it fair to all concerned?" "Will it build goodwill and better friendships?" and "Will it be beneficial to all concerned?"

The Lima Rotary Club continues its efforts to help adults reach their goals of secondary education. They call them non-traditional scholarships and 15 were awarded at Monday's Rotary meeting. Life has a way of getting in the way and for these students, this scholarship is a way to overcome some of those obstacles and assist in their education.
