LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Rotary Club continues its efforts to help adults reach their goals of secondary education.

Life has a way of getting in the way and for these students, this scholarship is a way to overcome some of those obstacles and assist in their education.

They call them non-traditional scholarships and 15 were awarded at Monday's Rotary meeting. Life has a way of getting in the way and for these students, this scholarship is a way to overcome some of those obstacles and assist in their education.

The Lima Rotary Club is just shy of awarding 1 million dollars in scholarships to nearly 1,300 students with their program.

"Scholarships help to take the financial burden off of students which allows me to focus more on my studies and this scholarship will also help me pursue an internship that I'm doing right now at the John Glenn Airport in Columbus," said Lexy Payne, who is studying aviation management at The Ohio State University.

"I bounced around at the University of Toledo a lot. I couldn't decide what I wanted to do up until recently when I moved to Lima and gained employment at the Mennonite Memorial Home that I really decided I want to go into nursing," commented Brittany Westfall, who is studying nursing at Rhodes State College.

The Lima Rotary Club is just shy of awarding 1 million dollars in scholarships to nearly 1,300 students with their program.
