WAPAKONETA — The Wapakoneta Redskins kept their perfect season alive Friday night, defeating Kenton 37-6 to improve to 8-0 on the year.

Kenton struck first when Alex Rogel powered into the end zone from four yards out, but the missed extra point kept the Wildcats’ lead at 6-0. Wapakoneta quickly responded as quarterback Caleb Moyer broke loose for a 29-yard touchdown run, giving the Redskins a 7-6 advantage.

Moyer added another score on a quarterback sneak in the second quarter, and later connected with Jarret Mullen for a 16-yard touchdown pass as Wapakoneta began to pull away.

The Redskins’ defense controlled the rest of the game, holding Kenton scoreless after the opening drive. Wapakoneta, which has now scored at least 37 points in five straight games, remains atop the Western Buckeye League standings heading into Week 9.
