Defiance surges past Elida with 22 unanswered points in second half

ELIDA — Defiance powered past Elida on Friday night, scoring 22 unanswered points in the second half to earn a 42-21 road victory in Western Buckeye League play.
Senior running back Kelten Gibbs delivered a monster performance for the Bulldogs, rushing for five touchdowns — including a 48-yard score that gave Defiance a 27-21 lead early in the third quarter.
Gibbs continued to dominate in the fourth, adding two more touchdown runs to put the game out of reach. The Defiance defense held Elida scoreless after halftime, securing the team’s fourth win of the season.
With the victory, Defiance evens its record at 4-4, while Elida falls to 3-5 after winning three of its previous four games.
