A deadly motorcycle crash is under investigation tonight in Allen County.
A Lima man has been sentenced in Allen County Common Pleas Court. Oliver Jackson Jr. was sentenced to 12 years to 15 and a half years in prison after being found guilty by a jury in early march on two counts of felonious assault and one count of having weapons under disability.
50-year-old Oliver Jackson Jr was found guilty to two of the three charges of felonious assault and jurors also found him guilty of having weapons under disability. Jackson was charged with shooting Stephen "Shawn" Snyder in the leg in February of 2020. Police say Jackson went to the bar and waved Snyder and Michael Nees out to the parking lot and he was arguing with him from his car, and prosecutors said that Jackson already knew how the situation was going to play out before the incident started.
Oliver Jackson Jr. and his attorney filed a motion to allow Jackson to be put back on house arrest, but the judge has denied that request. The defense attorney says it would make working with him easier and Jackson says his previous lawyer said he could leave his house, just not Allen County.
The man suspected of a shooting outside a Lima bar has been arraigned this morning.Oliver Jackson Jr. entered a written not guilty plea to three counts of felonious assault with a firearm and one count of having a weapon under disability. Jackson was indicted on the charges last week. Police believe he is responsible for shooting Stephen Snyder in the leg outside harry's hideaway on Feb. 29. Police said Jackson motioned to Snyder to meet him the parking lot where the shooting happened. Both fled the scene right after. Eventually, Snyder went to the hospital and was treated for the non-life threatening injury. Jackson's bond is set at $200,000. He has a pretrial scheduled for June 2.
This makes three shootings already this week. This one critically injuring another man. 29-year-old Justin Williams is in serious, but stable condition after taking multiple gunshots to his back. Just before midnight on Tuesday, Williams was shot outside his West Wayne Street home. As he was exiting his car, someone came up behind him and fired six shots, three of them hitting him.
The Lima Police Department has a suspect in the shooting outside of Harry's Hideaway over the weekend. Police say there is an arrest warrant out for 48-year-old Oliver Jackson Jr. on the charge of felonious assault. He allegedly shot 39-year-old Stephen Snyder in the leg. They say Jackson motioned for Snyder to meet him in the parking lot and shot him. During the shooting, cars outside the bar and the building itself was also hit by gunfire. Snyder left the scene before the police arrived, but eventually went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Lima Police Department are currently investigating a shooting outside of Harry's Hideaway Saturday night. LPD was dispatched to the bar right before 10:30.
According to LPD, the man motioned for 39-year-old Stephen Snyder to meet him in the parking lot. Once they were outside the man shot Snyder in the leg. He also shot at two cars and the outside of the bar.
