While the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is over for most of us, the Lima Salvation Army is still hard at work. Thanks to the community's generosity, their Red Kettle Campaign made just over $119,000. Their goal was $128,000 to help fund the programs they offer throughout the year. The kettle donations did help them meet their needs at Christmas.
You have around 3 weeks left to help a child have a better Christmas this year with a new toy. The Lima Salvation Army's "Toys for Tots" campaign will be collecting toys until December 14th. There are around 200 boxes out at various businesses in the area for donations of a new unwrapped toy. While they are looking for toys and stocking stuffers for any age of kids, there is one age group that could need some more donations.
The sound of bells ringing goes hand in hand with a long-time fundraising event to help those in need. The Lima Salvation Army kicked off its Red Kettle Campaign on Thursday as hundreds of families have signed up for assistance this holiday. Nearly 700 families, which included 1,700 children under 12 years of age, were helped last Christmas. This year's goal is $130,000, which not only helps people at the holidays but throughout the year with your help.

Summer is in full swing, but it's not stopping Lima from getting in the holiday spirit. With Christmas under five months away, the Salvation Army is wrapping up its 'Christmas in July' fundraiser that assists those in need. The campaign started back on July 8th and runs through this Saturday at all Chief and Kewpee locations locally. The program relies on the generous help of volunteers and donations from those who lend a hand to those in need.

Summertime is a difficult time for non-profits as the need remains as donations traditionally fall off. Organizations like the Salvation Army provide a variety of assistance to area residents all year long. They provide summer camps for the youth and continue their emergency food pantry, rent, and utility assistance for those struggling to make ends meet. The Christmas in July event helps to keep these programs running.
It’s National Donut Day! The Lima Salvation Army and Pat’s Donuts and Krème teamed up for “Take a Bite, Share the Delight!” National Donut Day was first observed in 1938 by the Salvation Army to honor the “Donut Girls” who provided fresh donuts and other baked goods to servicemen during World War I. Over the years it has continued to bring awareness and happiness while serving others.
The Lima Salvation Army holds a free community dinner every Sunday, and they’ve managed to continue to do so through the pandemic.
