With Christmas under five months away, the Lima Salvation Army is wrapping up its 'Christmas in July' fundraiser that assists those in need. The campaign started back on July 8th and runs through this Saturday at all Chief Markets and Kewpee locations locally. The program relies on the generous help of volunteers, and donations from those who lend a hand to those in need.

The Salvation Army's goal for the summer kettle program fundraiser is to raise $27,000.

"I want to thank the community for their support for helping us throughout this summer. I want to thank Chiefs. I want to thank the Kewpee locations. They're always helpful, and we couldn't do this without them. It is very important we have a lot of programs that support and a lot of times donations over the summer kind of dwindle a little bit. People are on vacation and things like that happen, so it's real important that we bring in donations to help us continue what we do," said Paul Downing, Salvation Army operations coordinator.
