VAN WERT, OH (WLIO) - Farmers from around the region gathered in Van Wert to show off both modern and historical tractors. 

Fire up those engines! Today was the antique tractor pull at the Allen County Fair. Nathan Kitchens shows us why this long-time fair tradition is so popular. It wouldn't be Senior Day without the antique tractor pull at the Allen County Fair. For many, it's all about the memories that it brings back from their childhood. Tractor pulling is known as the world's heaviest motorsport with a goal to determine the strongest machine and the best driver. It has nothing to do with speed, but everything to do with the distance pulled.

Festivities continued in Allen County with the fair hosting youth day activities. All day on Monday, kids were treated to a wide variety of fun.

A big crowd shows up to wrap up another successful Celina Lake Festival. Sunday was kids’ day, and there were a lot of activities for them to enjoy.   Some tested their strength at the kiddie tractor pull or tried to reel in the big one at the fishing derby.   Kids also got up and personal with some big trucks or hit the rides for a little fun.   This is the 62nd year for the festival and the committee is glad to see people come back year after year to not only enjoy the everything on lakeshore drive, but in the rest of Celina too. 

The Harrod Pork Rind festival kicked off Friday with the kids from the vacation bible school, and the pork rind princess contest.   The festival continues to find new events offer, like putting on their first ever fireworks show.   Organizers say that this long-time festival not only is a great fundraiser for local organizations but is a destination spot for people in the area.   

Indiana state police said the pursuit ended in Adams County, where a stolen semi-tractor became stuck and caught fire. Fort Wayne media reports the pursuit began in the Dayton suburb of Riverside, when two men took off in a stolen semi-tractor, at times exchanging gunfire with police. The pursuit went through Mercer County and then the village of Willshire in Van Wert before it moved into Indiana, where it ended.

The driver of the van was heading west, and the semi-tractor was heading north when the crash happened. The driver of the van was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to Lima Memorial Health System with unknown injuries. The driver of the semi was uninjured. No names have been released yet, the accident is still under investigation.

Kids at the Putnam County Fair got a chance to see what it's like in the driver's seat of a tractor. The Putnam County Farm Bureau hosted its third annual "Kids Dream Day" tractor event Thursday evening. This event gives kids the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a tractor and take it for a spin around the show arena at the fair. A member of the farm bureau hops in the tractor with them and shows them the interior of the tractor, and some of the updated features that new tractors have today.
