Delphos St. John's School officials continue the fire clean-up and update parents on what school will look like next week. In a Facebook video update, Father Jeff Walker says that school will be in session on Monday, October 28, 2024, as the air and building have been deemed safe, but there will be changes to the school day. Elementary and junior high students will be physically back inside the classroom on Monday, while high school students will not return to the building and attend class via remote learning at home all next week.

Just before 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, first responders were called to the intersection of Elm Street and Seriff Road. It is unknown how many people were hurt in the crash, but troopers say there were significant injuries to some of the people that were transported to the hospital. A power pole near the intersection was damaged during the incident. The cause of the crash has not been released.

One local council works together to provide the resources that children and their families can use in a time of need.  The Allen County Family and Children 1st Council is made up of more than 40 agencies,, organizations, and parent representatives. Their goal is to coordinate systems and services while engaging and empowering families. Monday the group received an update about Allen County Juvenile Court.

With just a few months left in this legislative session, a local state representative gives the Lima Kiwanis Club an update from Columbus. 84th District Representative Susan Manchester talked about some bills she is working on before the end of the year. One deals with making sure that patients receive appropriate coverage for prescription medication, plus tightening the rules for people to set up massage therapy practices.

DeWine announced during the Ohio School Safety Summit that the former head of the Ohio Police Officers Training Academy, Mary Davis, will develop the training for teachers and staff that want to carry guns in school. DeWine signed the law in June that gives school districts the option to allow their staff to have a gun during school hours. Those who chose to carry a gun will need to go through training every year.
