The city of Lima hearing a lot of concerns about an ordinance that has been on the books for years. The city utilities department has started tagging homes that are not following the garbage and refuse container set out violation ordinance.
The Findlay District of the Ohio State Highway Patrol calls their 11th annual “Light for Lives” a success. Troopers in Northwest Ohio, worked with law enforcement from 12 different counties, including Allen, Putnam, Hancock, Hardin, and Van Wert counties to stop as many motorist that they see committing traffic violations. The efforts ran from Tuesday November 22nd to the morning of Thanksgiving. During that time period, nearly 900 vehicles were stopped, and 316 citations were issues. 14 drivers were charged with OVI, and 13 stops led to drug arrests. Troopers want to remind motorist to buckle up and slow down or move over for stopped traffic.
A decision on if Lima will ban smoking and vaping in city owned parks could be reached Monday night. Lima City Council could have their third and final reading of the proposed law. According to the ordinance, any violation would be considered a minor misdemeanor and carries a $150 fine.

Last year, Shawnee Township had a high enough number of deaths in traffic incidents to qualify for these programs this year. The selective traffic enforcement grant will be used to send officers on patrol to monitor traffic violations such as speeding and distracted driving. The impaired driving enforcement program grant will fund more police presence during evenings and peak times of the year for impaired driving.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against a Florida woman after a traffic stop in Wood County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 33 pounds of cocaine worth approximately $1,073,000.
