January 17, 2025, Press Release from the Ohio State University at Lima: Interdisciplinary fine artist Jameel Amman will be at the Farmer Family Gallery from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2025, to open his new show Movement & Memory, an exhibition dedicated to the work of Sankofa. The works on display are a series of figurative drawings and digital paintings, collages and immersive experiences, intended to conjure African ancestral memory. Sankofa is a term that communicates the cyclical nature of time, relating one’s existence to the past, present and future. In keeping with this tradition, these works conjure the past into the present and future, and vice versa.

November 21, 2024, Press Release from ArtSpace/Lima: ArtSpace/Lima is excited to continue its tradition of distributing TO-GO Art Bags, first introduced in 2020. Designed to engage families in creative activities, these kits provide an opportunity to explore various art mediums while fostering skill-building and imagination. To date, ArtSpace has distributed over 27,000 Art Bags, a testament to the community's enthusiasm for accessible art experiences. The next Art Bag giveaway will take place on Wednesday, November 27, starting at 12:00. noon in Cherry Alley. Each bag will include three colors of paint, a marker, a board, and wooden heart shapes, along with instructions for creating a personalized family tree. Families can decorate the wooden hearts with their names and design unique compositions featuring trees. While sample designs will be provided, families are encouraged to unleash their creativity and make the project their own.

Attendees will also have the chance to meet a local children’s book author and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces directly from the artists.
