Wapakoneta is gearing up for its summer time tradition - the Summer Moon Festival is coming up!
The Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce recognized business and organization for their contribution to the community in 2024.
The festival is set for Saturday, September 21st at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds. VIP tickets are limited and must be purchased by September 6, 2024, or until sold out—so don’t wait!
The Friday night spirit combined with absolutely stupendous June weather led to a wonderful time for Party in the Park in Wapakoneta! On Friday evening, local residents and visitors flocked to the banks of the Auglaize River in Wapakoneta to enjoy a summer concert at Heritage Park.
Thursday night was the second Party in the Park event in Wapakoneta this year, and they are excited to be enjoying the new venue on the river. Fleetwood to the Max took the stage and people were seen jamming out and enjoying a brew or two.
The Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce held its State of the City, County, and Schools luncheon on Thursday to catch up on what's been happening in the area. City and county officials spoke on updates, and what projects they have going forward. For Auglaize County as a whole, they are getting their hands into pushing water and sewage to the east side of I-75 in Cridersville for a business development called The Crossroads. Auglaize County Commissioner Doug Spencer says their most recent accomplishment has been a sales tax revenue of $10.7 million collected in 2020.
A farmers market was held in Downtown Wapakoneta on Saturday. Residents had a chance to travel to the Wapakoneta Courthouse parking lot, where they would find a variety of local goods, such as jams, jellies, local honey, maple syrup, vegetables, and more.
On Friday night, the Summer Moon Festival in downtown Wapakoneta kicked off its two-day event with food, local shopping, and music provided by a DJ. While some attractions were cancelled, many favorites still remain, like the beer tent, and of course the 20-foot astronaut inflatable.
Things are still up in the air for the future of the annual Summer Moon Festival in Wapakoneta this year. Those organizing the event are still waiting to hear what the final decision regarding summer festivals and fairs will be from the state, but they say they are prepared to hold the festival if they are able to.
