The Wood County Sheriff's office is investigating an early Wednesday morning crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist that struck a deer, and was hit by a SUV.

November 13, 2024, Press Release from the Wood County Sheriff's Office: At 6:02 AM, the Wood County Sheriff's Office investigated a fatal crash on S. Dixie Highway north of Cygnet Road. 23-year-old Dishawn Arnett of Fostoria was driving north on Dixie Highway in a GMC pickup when a southbound Chevrolet pickup, driven by 58-year-old Kurt Mazey of Weston, went left of center and struck him head-on.

October 8, 2024, Press Release from the Wood County Sheriff's Office: On 10/07/2024 at 3:34 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff's Office was informed of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US 6 and Range Line Rd in Weston Township. The crash involved a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2013 Volvo semi-tractor pulling a tanker trailer. The investigation showed that the Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by Jacob Kern, 31, of Deshler, was traveling south on Range Line Road and failed to stop at a stop sign. The pickup traveled onto US 6, where it struck the trailer of the semi tractor-trailer, operated by John Secord, 44, of Lasalle, MI, which was traveling eastbound. The pickup became lodged under the semi-trailer and became engulfed in flames.
