Ayersville shuts out Hicksville behind Lloyd’s 14 strikeouts in sectional final

LIMA (WLIO) — Ayersville is headed to the Division VI district semifinals after a dominant performance against Green Meadows Conference rival Hicksville.
The Pilots defeated the Aces 10-0 in six innings during sectional final action in Defiance.
Hicksville pitcher Eli Lawrence kept things scoreless early, striking out back-to-back batters to end the first inning. Lawrence finished with five strikeouts for the Aces.
Ayersville broke through in the second inning. With a runner on third, Grady Wolfrum laid down a sacrifice bunt that brought home Jackson Stambaugh for the game’s first run.
Later in the inning, Alex Sigler lined a hit into left field to drive in two more runs and extend the Pilots’ lead to 3-0.
Meanwhile, Ayersville starter Owen Lloyd dominated on the mound. The right-hander struck out the side in the third inning and finished the game with 14 strikeouts.
The Pilots rolled to a 10-0 win in six innings and now advance to next Wednesday’s Division VI district semifinals at Napoleon.
Ayersville will face the winner of Patrick Henry and Crestview.
