DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) — Bath Wildcats dominated from start to finish, shutting out the Delphos Jefferson Wildcats in a run-rule victory in the “Battle of the Wildcats.”
Bath wasted no time jumping ahead in the top of the first inning. On a dropped third strike, Jaden Miller and Daniel Cole both came around to score, giving the road team an early 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats kept the pressure on in the same inning. Logan Markley put the ball in play, allowing Karson Green to score and extend the advantage to four.
On the mound, Jefferson’s Ben Frymire-Lavigne recorded a pair of strikeouts to limit further damage in the opening frame.
Defensively, Bath backed up its pitching with strong play in the field. In the bottom of the first, the Wildcats turned a 5-4-3 double play, highlighted by a nice stretch from Markley at first base to end the inning.
But the story of the game was Bath’s pitching staff, which combined for a no-hitter while striking out six batters and keeping Jefferson off the board throughout.
Bath goes on to win in five innings, improving to 3-1 on the season.
