ELIDA (WLIO) — Bath earned a road win at the Fieldhouse, pulling away from Elida for a 66-58 victory after a strong second-half push.
The Wildcats had defeated the Bulldogs earlier this season in the Tip-Off Classic, and the rematch opened with Elida striking first. With the Bulldogs up by three in the opening quarter, Noah Jostpille knocked down a three-pointer, part of an 11-point night for the senior.
Bath answered quickly. Logan Markley found Zach Welsch at the top of the key, and the senior connected from deep. Elida closed the quarter strong, as Brody Altenbach spotted up and buried a three in the final moments, giving the Bulldogs an 18-11 lead after one.
As the game progressed, Elida leaned on Jonathan Payne, who created space with a step-back jumper on his way to a team-high 15 points.
Bath began to chip away behind Daniel Cole. The junior found the basket with a favorable roll, then followed it up by showing his range again, getting another friendly bounce to fall. Cole finished with a game-high 25 points.
Bath closed out the final stretch to secure the 66-58 win, improving to 9-5 on the season.
