ELIDA — Celina scored three unanswered goals to rally past Shawnee 3-1 in the Division III, Northwest 3 district semifinal on Wednesday night, earning a spot in Saturday’s championship match.
Shawnee struck first when Bri Sheipline slipped a shot past the keeper to give the Indians an early 1-0 advantage. Celina answered in the 23rd minute as Bria Pearson fired a long-range strike to even the score.
In the second half, Rachel Rammel delivered a cross into the box that found Allana Vondenhuevel, who finished for the Bulldogs’ first lead. Vondenhuevel later sealed the victory with her second goal of the night in the final minutes.
Celina advances to face Ontario in the district final on Saturday at noon at Lexington.
