WAPAKONETA, OH — The 2025 Western Ohio Aquatic League Championships kicked off this weekend at the Wapakoneta Water Park, with more than 500 swimmers and their families on hand for two days of high-stakes racing.
Eight WOAL teams have been competing since June, all building toward this final meet—and Day One certainly delivered.
We turn our focus to the 15 & Over Division.
In the boys’ 100-meter freestyle, Bluffton’s Parker McGraw took first with a time of 1:04, while on the girls’ side, Angela Fronzaglia dominated the event for Lima Westside, finishing in 1:09Fronzaglia struck gold again in the 50-meter butterfly, clocking in at 29.42 seconds for her second win of the day.
Bluffton’s Jackson Bowlus claimed the boys’ 50 fly in 27.33, just ahead of teammate Thomas Koh, giving the Sardines a 1–2 finish.
And Bluffton’s momentum continued in the 200-meter medley relay, with Xavier Diller anchoring the boys' squad to a 1:56 finish.
But the biggest moment of the day came from the Westside girls relay team.
Arleigh Amspoker, Ansley Newman, Morgan Schimmoeller, and anchor Angela Fronzaglia combined to break a 15-year-old meet record—finishing the 200 medley in 2:09.51.
That wraps up Day One at the pool. The action resumes tomorrow morning at 9 AM for the final day of the WOAL Championships.
