LEWISTOWN, Ohio (WLIO) — Indian Lake held off Preble Shawnee in a Division V showdown Friday night, earning a hard-fought 17–14 victory to advance to the regional semifinals.
The Lakers (9–2) struck first on their opening drive when Brodey Reisinger hauled in a touchdown pass in the end zone for a 7–0 lead.
Preble Shawnee (10–2) answered late in the first quarter as quarterback Brody Morton kept it himself for a short touchdown run to tie the game at 7.
Just before halftime, the Arrows appeared poised to take the lead, but Noah Shirk intercepted a pass in the end zone to keep the score even heading into the break.
In the third quarter, Brady Golliday led another strong drive for Indian Lake, breaking loose on a keeper to move the Lakers deep into the red zone. Moments later, Golliday connected with Reisinger again for a touchdown, giving the Lakers a 14–7 advantage.
Indian Lake added a field goal in the fourth quarter, then held off a late Preble Shawnee rally to secure the 17–14 win.
The Lakers advance to face Cincinnati Mariemont in next week’s regional semifinal.
