MILLER CITY, OH (WLIO) -- With two games left in the Putnam County League season, three teams remain in the race for the title.

Two of those teams met Tuesday night.

Kalida entered conference play at 4-1, hitting the road to face undefeated Miller City, which stood at 5-0. Kalida had won seven of the last 10 meetings between the teams.

In the third quarter, Kalida’s Owen Grime knocked down a catch-and-shoot 3 from the corner to give the Wildcats a 33-28 lead.

Miller City responded on the next possession. Senior Henry Rump hit a midrange jumper from inside the arc to pull the Wildcats within three.

Heading into the fourth quarter, Kalida senior Parker Vorst buried a jumper as the visitors began to heat up offensively.

That run continued when Logan Kerner drilled a 3-pointer, pushing Kalida’s lead to 44-30. The Wildcats would not look back.

Kerner later found Nathan Kahle, who finished the play with a layup.

Kalida kept its Putnam County League title hopes alive with a 52-39 win over Miller City.
