KALIDA — Kalida maintained its strong season with a straight-set sweep over St. John’s in Putnam County.
The Wildcats set the tone early, taking the first two sets and carrying momentum into the third. Valarie Romes delivered a kill to the hardwood for a 12-4 lead, and Gwen Stechschulte set up Addilyn Huber for another emphatic point, putting Kalida ahead by 13.
St. John’s fought back, with Alaina Martin scoring a point to cut the deficit and Kaylie Sunderhaus beating two defenders for a kill. Despite the effort, Kalida closed out the match, with Stechschulte rising for the block on match point.
Kalida completed the sweep with set wins of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-11.
