FINDLAY — Leipsic is now alone atop the Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball standings after a 3-1 victory over Liberty-Benton on Thursday night.

The Vikings, ranked No. 2 in Division VII, improved to 16-1 overall and 8-0 in league play by taking down the Division V No. 17 Eagles, who entered the night unbeaten in conference action.

Freshman Emelia Kin made an early impact at the net, tallying 11 kills for Leipsic. Karmyn Brough helped pace the offense with strong setting, including a key assist to Sydney Apple, who finished with seven kills. Fellow freshman Kya Brandt added 10 kills, while senior standout Danaysia Danzy powered the Vikings with a match-high 26 kills.

Liberty-Benton (13-5, 6-1 BVC) was led by junior Corra DeHart, who notched 11 kills to keep the Eagles within striking distance.

Leipsic’s win gives the Vikings sole possession of first place in the BVC as the regular season heads into its final stretch.
