LIMA — Lima Central Catholic opened Northwest Conference play in commanding fashion Friday night, rolling past Allen East 36-6 in the Spotlight Game of the Week.
Junior quarterback Brady Parker jump-started the Thunderbirds with a highlight run in the first quarter, weaving through defenders for a 63-yard touchdown to make it 8-0 after the two-point conversion.
On the ensuing drive, the LCC defense forced a turnover when Xavier Pernell pounced on a fumble, setting up the offense in prime field position. Eddie White capped that possession with a touchdown run, pushing the advantage to 16-0.
Carter Lester added to the night’s momentum with a powerful run at the goal line, aided by a push from his offensive line, as LCC continued to pull away.
The Thunderbirds secured their first 4-0 start since 2018, cementing themselves as the No. 2 team in Division VII and a contender in the NWC. Allen East, meanwhile, couldn’t find an answer for LCC’s balanced attack on both sides of the ball.
Lima Central Catholic will look to keep its perfect season intact next week, while the Mustangs aim to regroup after the conference-opening loss.
