PIQUA (WLIO) — Lima Senior started its 2025 football campaign with a hard-fought road victory, edging Piqua 12-7 on Friday night at Alexander Stadium.
The Spartans, coming off back-to-back nine-win seasons, leaned on their defense to carry them in a game where both offenses struggled to find rhythm. Deshad Greer delivered a key hit in the first quarter that set up Kaelan Law’s interception, shifting early momentum toward Lima Senior.
Quarterback Ja’Niaus Hall provided some spark with a second-quarter conversion that pushed the Spartans inside the red zone, but his ensuing throw into triple coverage was picked off by Piqua’s Keaton Bolden, who returned it out of the end zone to halt the drive.
Despite the turnover, Lima Senior’s defense continued to clamp down, holding the Indians to just seven points all night. Chase after chase, the Spartans forced stops and secured field position until the offense was able to grind out just enough to secure the victory.
The 12-7 win gave Lima Senior its first mark in the win column as it looks to build off last year’s historic stretch. The Spartans will return home next week for their season opener at Spartan Stadium.
