Lima Senior sweeps Rogers to advance to Toledo City League volleyball final

LIMA — Lima Senior punched its ticket to the Toledo City Athletic League volleyball championship with a dominant three-set sweep over Rogers in the tournament semifinals.
The Spartans opened strong with a 25-9 win in the first set, then followed with a 25-16 victory in the second. Ali VanMeter set up Talia Lawrence-Banks for several key kills as Lima Senior took full control.
In the third set, Tacsharyei Stubblefield made her presence felt at the net with a block that sparked a quick 7-2 lead. Amyah King added a highlight moment with a one-handed save, leading to a crafty point from Jackie Waithe to keep the Spartans rolling.
Stubblefield sealed the sweep with a powerful kill to finish off a 25-13 third set and secure the 3-0 win.
Lima Senior advances to face Waite High School in the tournament finals Tuesday at 6 p.m.
